Ludwig von 88 is a French punk rock and rock band very active in the alternative rock scene of the 1980s and 1990s.
Their music is marked by punk-destroy derision. After debuting around 1983, their first real album was released in 1986:
These are their first cries in the face of a society that they consider to be in disarray.
They made themselves known by composing numerous secondary songs about stars:
Louison Bobet, Nicolae Ceauescu, Maria Callas, Jacques Chirac, Jodie Foster, Ayrton Senna...
The group uses irony and denounces the flaws and clichés of French society. Although the group has never officially separated,
it has nonetheless remained on an extended hiatus since January 1999.
